I say this to John Howard: Maybe he should think about giving to Timor-Leste what rightfully belongs to Timor-Leste under the international law!!! Australia exploited more than US$2 Billion in revenues from the Timor Gap between 1999 and 2004 (Laminaria and Coralina oil fields).

John Howard withdrew Australia from the international court on the eve of Timor-Leste gaining its sovereignty in 2002, denying the Timor-Leste the only avenue to resolve the maritime border between the two countries fairly. Australia bullied Timor-Leste into accepting on 50% of what rightfully belonged to it under international law in the Greater

Sunrise negotiations.

The people of Timor-Leste inherited a country literally from the ashes after 1999.

The US$2 Billion that Australia robbed from Timor-Leste's oil resources would have made many differences. Instead, faced with a poor, conflict torn neighbour, Australia became a bully instead and denied Timor-Leste precious funds which would have placed the country on a good footing.

Timor-Leste is moving towards a path of self reliance despite various setbacks, despite Australia's bullying behaviour. But today John Howard is only too happy to see Timor-Leste on its knees.

But Timor-Leste will raiseonce again. And this time she will be stronger. John Howard is on his way out soon. Timor-Leste will contiue to stand and the East Timorese will soon rub it on John Howard's face.
