ABC News

East Timor's main Opposition Leader says that for the sake of peace in his country, Prime Minister Mari Alkatiri must be dismissed and new elections held within six months.
Fernando De Arujo is also calling on the international community to step in to guarantee his personal safety, reiterating his claims that he has received death threats from the Prime Minister.
...
At the centre of the allegations Mr De Arujo, who has moved to a safer location in the districts outside of Dili.

He says his life is in danger and that the Prime Minister is trying to kill him.
"Mari Alkatiri, to guarantee his ambition to run the country for 50 years, he tried to kill the Opposition Leader," Mr De Arujo said.

"My expectation is that the President of the republic should say something, should dismiss the Parliament, and ask for the Prime Minister to step down and walk together with the international community to solve the situation."

Dismissal call

A similar proposal has also been made by another of East Timor's legislators, Manual Tilman, who also helped draft the constitution.

But Dr Helen Hill, an expert in the development and decolonisation of East Timor, says she believes dismissing the Government is the wrong way to go.

"I think it's very important to investigate the allegations, because what I've noticed happening is that there are a number of criminal gangs around the place," she said.

"Some of them may be doing things, claiming to be doing it in the name of the Government, some of them may actually support the Government and think they're helping the Government.

"But I can't imagine that Mari Alkatiri, being an intelligent person, would think it was in his interests to kill any of his opponents."

Alguem pode-me responder?

"Dr Helen Hill, an expert in the development and decolonisation of East Timor". hehehehe..........
