Thank you very much for the effort and concern about East Timorese native Languages. I am very glad to read some of your analysis and comments on Waima´a. I just want to correct something. I am a Waima´a speaker, I konw very well that Waima´a is very difficult for those who have not been growing, since childehood, in the atmosphere of Waima´a people, even his/her parents are from Waima´a origin. One thing is important to be noted here that the word Waima´a is not refered to the word "dry" in English or "seco" in Portuguese. It should be understood in the cultural context. The reference of Waima´a is not Caicido, however the best reference of Waima´a is Baucau as a whole. Generally, Baucau district had been dominated by Waima´a etnic. We can prove it by the evindences refering to the names of places occupied by Makasae etnic right now. For example: Buru umo, Kelekai (climber of tree), Lai-soru lai, Wailili, Gariwai, Ba´agia (Baguia), Lete mumu, Waimata lee, Waioli, etc. We can compare them with Waima´a settings such as Waimase (Vemasse),Wailakama, Boku-oli (Bucoli), Waukhau (Baucau), kaisidu, kaibada, Ostiku, Loilubu, Waimori, etc. Therefore, your reference to Caicido is very superficial, because it is only Caicido has escarcity of water and the rest of Waima´a´s regions have abundance of water (not dry). Waima´a means empty. People used to get water from its fountain as a culture (tradition) because it has connection with their belief about nature, especially wellspring itself and mountains as sacred. I am always available to write to you an article about Waima´a. If you want to contact me through this e-mail a.pulchra@yahoo.com
Thanks a lot

"Apesar de frágil, Timor-Leste é uma jovem democracia em que acreditamos. É o país que escolhemos para viver e trabalhar. Desde dia 28 de Abril muito se tem dito sobre a situação em Timor-Leste. Boatos, rumores, alertas, declarações de países estrangeiros, inocentes ou não, têm servido para transmitir um clima de conflito e insegurança que não corresponde ao que vivemos. Vamos tentar transmitir o que se passa aqui. Não o que ouvimos dizer... "
