Declaration from Abilio Mausoko

On the 28 June 2006 Abilio Mausoko’s wife went to meet President Xanana, at Dare with the objective of freeing her husband in Becora Jail. Abilio’s wife who is 6 months pregnant reached Halilaran at Taibessi (maluk in the sense that from the same district) from Loromono attacked and beat her and told her that her husband is an assassin who has made them suffer during this crisis. After this incident Mausoko’s wife went to met President Xanana at Dare and asked Xanana: Mr President can you release your young brother that is now in Becora Prison?

The President responded that: Mausoko is now loyal to FRETILIN and Mari Alkatiri and that he has no confidence now to release him from prison. Mausoko’s wife passed on the message immediately after to her husband at Becora Prison.

The 11 th June two majors form Australia went to see Abilio Mausoko at Becora Prison investigating him and asked” Abilio are you loyal to President Xanana or to Mari A. “Malai” (the foreigner) asked him three times and Mausoko responded: I am loyal to all of them Xanana because he is the Head of State and Mari because he is the Sec Gen of FRETILIN, but personally I am loyal to Mari because he is the Sec Gen of F, my dad died for F. and I am a person of F. – They major continued because they knew Mausoko was a person of the Party F. They left for Dare.

16 June (Date not clear) Mr Hasegawa went to visit the Prison and meet Mausoko.

He asked Abilio Mausoko:

Is it true? Did you receive US$5000 from Mari to take the rebels to start this crisis?

Abilio replied that: I never received money from Dr Mari but I recognise that, during the confrontations between PNTL and FDTL and the shooting at the Brigadier’s house; the Supreme Commander Mr Xanana gave the command and ordered the shooting, but before we exchanged fire against the FFDTL I telephoned first to Brigen Taur, Cmdr Falur, Cmdt Lere, Comdt Koliaty, Cmdt Ular. Mausoko continued to say that the author of the crisis in Timor is President X.

The 13 August 2006 the PM Horta visited Becora Prison and asked Mausoko:

Where are you from and why are you here?

Mausoko replied: I am Abilio Audian, I am Operational commander for PNTL in Dili district, at this moment the PNTL institution gave me the gun for me to keep security to the city of Dili bu after the Supreme Commander XG ordered my group of seven at Marabia my residence to shoot at the Brigadiers house.

I was able to shoot but I warned the FFDTL that the orders were from the Supreme Commander. But at the end the Government through the International forces disarmed me and said I was a criminal in this crisis. They said the guns that I had was illegal, said Mausoko.

Before the crisis the President organised a meeting at his residence at Dare (note: Balibar is also know to Timorese as Dare) at this moment there was present the Bishop of Dili and Baucau, Mr Paulo Martins, Mr Ramos Horta and opposition leaders were there too. At that time the President recommended to remove/overthrow the Government led by Mari and FRETILIN because they were applying Communism to Timor L, to FFDTL through Cuba. This attitude was against our Culture and Timorese tradition. This is why the Churches presence at that time was important in order to contribute to development to Timor Future.

Abilio M, asked X. the question if removing MA will cause blood shed?

The President turned around and tapped Mausoko in the shoulder and said a boy can remove the man easily don’t be scared.

At that time the Xan. Gus guaranteed that Horta will serve as the new PM. Mausoko did not reveal the date of the meeting. And said that Xan. Dreamed of destroying everything and later build it up again so then he could be seen internationally more over as the charismatic figure.
