Dear Malae Azul,

Thank you very much for your photos. Yo uhave been our eyes and ears in East Timor.

These photos are great and it clearly shows that the Timorese are not as ignorant as some people would have them be. The Timorese are patient and are following the situation closely in their villages far from the cities. They listen, they watch and they analyse. They don't just fall for any propaganda because they had 24 years of practice against Indonesians. This is what helped them to resist the 24 years of brutal occupation. They will continue to resist any attempt to subjugate them and they are ready for any challenge. Bring on the elections and they will tell you who is right and who is wrong.

As for Fretilin, it is truly a great organisation with discipline and principle. If these were supporting people like Railos and Alfredo, it would almost be certain that they would be coerced to descend on Dili and create violence. Unlike the renta-a-crowd mob employed by the MUNJ, Augusto Trindade and Nino Blas Pereira, the Fretilin supporters are the people themselves. This shows that Fretilin is the only organisation capable of leading East Timor because it is organised, discipline and mature. Fretilin will indeed dominate East Timor's politics for many generations to come.

As for Mari Alkatiri, I have nothing but admiration for this man. He is a fighter and he has proven that he has more charisma than Xanana ever had. He subjected himself to legal scrutiny and was cleared of any wrong doing. If Xanana or Ramos-Horta were in his place it's almost certain that both would have sought assylum somewhere. Xanana would go to Australia and Ramos-Horta to the US to join his best friend Henry Kissinger. Their are exactly like their protege Alfredo Reinado.

Long Live the East Timor People!
Long Live Fretilin!
Long Live Lu Olo!
Long Live Alkatiri!

"Apesar de frágil, Timor-Leste é uma jovem democracia em que acreditamos. É o país que escolhemos para viver e trabalhar. Desde dia 28 de Abril muito se tem dito sobre a situação em Timor-Leste. Boatos, rumores, alertas, declarações de países estrangeiros, inocentes ou não, têm servido para transmitir um clima de conflito e insegurança que não corresponde ao que vivemos. Vamos tentar transmitir o que se passa aqui. Não o que ouvimos dizer... "
