Timor youth gangs throw stones on All Souls Day

East Timor's capital Dili has observed a major Catholic holiday with scenes of youth gangs throwing stones at each other.

The incident near Dili's main Santa Cruz cemetery saw dozens of youths hurl rocks.

But there were no casualties and UN police quickly calmed the situation.

United Nations police commissioner Antero Lopes had warned this week that All Souls Day had the potential to spark fresh unrest between rival gangs after a resurgence in violence in the past two weeks has left at least five people dead.
