The national hospital is becoming vulnerable due to the constant stone fighting and the presence of unknown faces, said Antonio Caleres Junior, Director of the hospital.
According to Caleres there have been a few incidents where people seeking medical treatment could not proceed to the hospital. He pointed out that many pregnant women came to the hospital to give birth but could not proceed into the compound and had to have their babies delivered at a private clinic.
Antonio Caleres further said the facilities of the hospital cannot be used by patients as it is being used by other people. He said he has observed a few people carrying light weapons such as machetes, walking into the hospital. He believes some of people currently in the hospital have moved from Obrigado Barrack and Jardim (opposite port) camps.
The Director of the national hospital asked the international police to set up a police post at the hospital so that the public can seek medical treatment safely.

O Hospital Nacional está a ficar vulnerável devido às constantes lutas com pedras e à presença de desconhecidos, disse António Caleres Junior, Director do hospital.
De acordo com Caleres houve alguns incidentes quando pessoas que procuravam tratamento médico não conseguiram aceder ao hospital. Disse que muitas grávidas que vinham para o hospital dar à luz não conseguiram entrar no complexo e tiveram de ter os filhos numa clínica privada.
António Caleres disse ainda que as instalações do hospital não podem ser usadas pelos doentes porque estão a ser usadas por outros. Disse que tem visto gente com armas ligeiras como catanas, a andarem no hospital. Acredita que algumas das pessoas que estão correntemente no hospital mudaram-se dos campos da Obrigado Barrack e do Jardim (portos opostos).
O Director do Hospital Nacional pediu à polícia internacional para montar um posto de polícia no hospital de modo às pessoa poderem procurar tratamentos médicos com segurança.
